Bangladesh’s relations are ‘not momentary but permanent’, they cannot be weakened.

Dhaka. Amidst the ongoing tension between India and Bangladesh, Indian High Commissioner Prannoy Verma has said that the relations between New Delhi and Dhaka are ‘not momentary, but eternal’ and cannot be weakened. His statement has come at a time when, just a few hours ago, the Foreign Ministry of Bangladesh had summoned him and expressed concern over the statements of former PM Sheikh Hasina. Let us tell you that the interim government of Bangladesh alleges that Sheikh Hasina, while staying in India, is giving such statements which can incite violence and unrest in the country. This is an attempt to derail the upcoming parliamentary elections.
According to media reports, regarding this, the interim government led by Mohammad Yunus reiterated the demand for ‘quick extradition’ of Hasina from India. Amidst these developments, speaking at the program of ‘Itihas O Oitijjo Parishad’, an academic and cultural organization in Dhaka, Prannoy Verma said that the relationship between India and Bangladesh is not temporary, this relationship is made of blood and sacrifice and it cannot be weakened. The event was organized to mark the 54th anniversary of Victory Day observed on December 16, which commemorates Bangladesh’s victory over Pakistan in the 1971 liberation war.
Prannoy Verma said India had fought shoulder to shoulder with the people of Bangladesh in 1971 and would continue to support them in building a democratic, stable, peaceful, progressive and inclusive Bangladesh. Recalling the liberation war, Verma said that India had proudly supported its ‘Bangladeshi brothers and sisters’ in that struggle. He said that during that period thousands of Indian soldiers lost their lives and countless were injured. He said that now is the time to cherish the values for which the freedom struggle was fought.
