Moscow. After the conflict with Russia for the last 3 years, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky currently seems to be in a mood for compromise. They say that they are ready to withdraw their demand to join NATO. Russia has been attacking with this demand that why Ukraine wants to join NATO and if it becomes a part of the US-led military organization, then there will be a threat to its security. Meanwhile, if the Ukrainian leader has talked about withdrawing the demand of joining NATO, then it is an indication of his inclination, but he has also put forward two demands.
Zelensky told US President Donald Trump’s special envoy Steve Witkoff and his son-in-law Jared Kushner that he wanted to say two things. First of all, they are not ready to give up their claim on the areas occupied by Russia. Apart from this, he wants Ukraine to get security guarantees from America and Western countries. In fact, Trump had recently put a condition regarding the peace proposal that the areas occupied by Russia should be merged into it and the war should be ended by Ukraine agreeing to it.
Now Zelensky has accepted NATO’s conditions, but does not agree to hand over Ukrainian territories to Russia. German Chancellor Friedrich Merz was also sitting with him during this conversation. Zelensky said that the US and some European countries have rejected Ukraine’s efforts to join NATO. But we want assurance from NATO and its allies regarding security.
