Again the earth trembled in Myanmar, people got scared due to the early morning earthquake and ran out of their homes.

Naypyidaw. The morning in Myanmar was quite scary. The reason was that the earthquake that occurred here scared people a lot. Although the intensity was measured only 4.4, people felt that if a strong earthquake occurred somewhere, it would be difficult to escape. Due to this thinking, people came out of their homes and started running towards safe places. Earthquake tremors were felt in Myanmar on Thursday morning. According to information from the National Center for Seismology (NCS), its intensity was measured at 4.4 on the Richter scale. The epicenter of the earthquake was located at 26.07 degrees north latitude and 97.00 degrees east longitude, while its depth is said to be 100 kilometers. Although there is no news of any loss of life or property due to this earthquake yet, it is still considered dangerous.
According to Myanmar’s National Center for Seismology, earlier on December 11, an earthquake of 3.8 magnitude was recorded in Myanmar. A day before this, on December 10, an earthquake of 4.6 magnitude occurred, whose depth was about 138 kilometers. Geologists say that Myanmar is sensitive to earthquakes due to its long coastline. There remains a risk of moderate to major earthquakes and tsunamis here. Due to the activeness of four major tectonic plates in the country, tremors in the earth are often felt here. According to experts, Myanmar falls in a geographically sensitive area from earthquake point of view. Due to the country’s long coastline, there is a risk of moderate to major earthquakes and tsunamis. Myanmar is located at the intersection of four major tectonic plates – the Indian, Eurasian, Sunda and Burma plates. Due to the continuous collision and sliding of these plates, seismic activities are often seen here.
Let us tell you that if we look at the year 2025, there was a major earthquake in Central Myanmar on March 28 this year, in which powerful tremors of 7.7 and 6.4 magnitude were felt. The approximately 1,400 km long Sagaing Fault passing through Myanmar remains a major threat to the country. The fault connects the Andaman region to the northern part of the country and poses a serious earthquake risk to major cities such as Sagaing, Mandalay, Bago and Yangon. About 46 percent of Myanmar’s population lives in these cities. In 1903, the impact of the 7.0 magnitude earthquake that struck Bago, Myanmar, was felt as far as Yangon.
