Toronto. To help Indian women living in Canada, the Consulate General of India in Toronto has recently started One Stop Center for Women (OSCW). This center will provide financial, legal and emotional support to Indian women, students and female employees living in Canada. According to Acting Consul General Kapidhwaj Pratap Singh, this initiative will act as a bridge between Canadian and Indian authorities, providing a safe environment for women. Consul General Singh said that Indian women in Canada have to face domestic violence, dowry, exploitation and other difficulties. OSCW has been designed keeping these needs in mind and will provide immediate counselling, psycho-social support, legal advice and financial assistance. Acting Consul General Singh said that many organizations in Canada provide help, but due to cultural and social barriers, women are not able to openly seek help. But the aim of this center is to remove these obstacles and ensure that women have access to their rights and resources. OSCW can be used by women, visitors, workers and students with permanent residence in Canada.
This initiative received positive response from the women community within a few days of its launch. More than a dozen women have contacted with their various problems. The Consul General said the center will provide women with legal, financial and social support, as well as help them access local community and social-service resources. Established on December 26, 2025, this center will work completely under Canadian law and will provide timely help to women. This initiative is expected to create a safe and supportive environment for Indian women living in Canada.
