Washington. US Congressman Randy Fine has introduced a bill called the Greenland Annexation and Statehood Act. The purpose of this bill is to give legal authority to the US government to take over Greenland and later make it a US state. MP Randy Fine gave information about this bill by posting on social media. He said that this step is very important to stop the influence of Russia-China. After this, a complete report of the reforms required for becoming a state will be submitted to the Parliament.
If the bill is passed, America will get the right to make Greenland its 51st state. However, this bill has just been introduced and it has to be passed in both the House and the Senate. Many experts say that it will pass with great difficulty, as it is against international law. Denmark has had control over Greenland for more than 300 years.
Greenland is essential for US defense
President Donald Trump supported this proposal. He has stressed that Greenland is essential to American defense. He recently said that America needs Greenland and they are taking steps in that direction, whether other countries like it or not. The Trump administration has also discussed ways such as paying people from Greenland to join the US. Officials of Denmark and Greenland have strongly criticized Trump’s approach. He called it disrespectful.
