Federal officers open fire during immigration crackdown, one dead

Washington. One person was killed in a shooting by federal officers in Minneapolis amid the strict immigration policy of the Donald Trump administration in the US. After this incident, an atmosphere of tension was created in the city and a large number of people took to the streets to protest against the immigration action.
Minnesota Governor Tim Walz confirmed the incident, saying the shooting occurred during the Trump administration’s immigration crackdown. According to hospital records, the 51-year-old man died after being shot. However, detailed details related to the incident have not been revealed yet and it is not clear under what circumstances the firing took place.
Meanwhile, a spokesperson of the security department claimed that the killed person had weapons and cartridges. The department says federal officials took the action with their own safety in mind. At the same time, local administration and human rights organizations have raised questions on this claim and demanded an impartial investigation into the entire matter.
Appeal to end repressive immigration crackdown
Governor Tim Walz said in a post on social media that he contacted the White House immediately after the shooting incident. He appealed to President Donald Trump to end, in his words, the “repressive immigration crackdown” underway in Minnesota. Walz said that such actions are creating an atmosphere of fear and insecurity in the state, which is dangerous for social harmony. It is noteworthy that thousands of people had come out on the streets of Minneapolis despite the severe cold to protest against the incident. Protesters chanted slogans against federal enforcement officers and demanded that they leave the city. Protesters say innocent people are being targeted and force is being used in the name of immigration.
