Pyongyang. North Korea’s ruling Workers’ Party of Korea (KWP) has once again elected Kim Jong-un as the general secretary of the party. It has been told that this decision has been taken in the ninth Congress of the party with the aim of furthering the goal of development and prosperity of the country.
According to media reports, the government agency said on Monday that under the leadership of Kim Jong-un, the country’s nuclear war-resistance capability has improved significantly. The party said his reappointment as general secretary reflected the collective will of party members, the public and soldiers. This decision was taken on the fourth day of the Congress. At the conclusion of this Congress, which usually lasts for several days, major policy goals related to the economy, defense and diplomacy for the next five years are decided. According to party rules, the General Secretary is elected only in the Party Congress, which is considered the highest decision-making body of the country.
Congress praised Kim Jong-un as a leader who is strong and building ‘revolutionary armed forces’ that are capable of dealing with any kind of war and external aggression. The media report said that by placing nuclear forces at the centre, there has been a revolutionary improvement in the country’s defense capability and the state is moving towards prosperity despite difficult global circumstances.
Addressing the congress, Party Secretary Ri Il-hwan claimed that even amid global unrest and sanctions, Kim Jong-un has led the country on the path of stability and development. He said that North Korea has created an impressive identity at the international level by neutralizing external pressures. It is noteworthy that this Congress has been organized for the first time after the year 2021, which is being considered important for determining the policies and strategies of the coming years.
