Thai army conducts air strike on Cambodia after the death of a soldier

bangkok,. Thailand and Cambodia have once again come face to face. Despite the ceasefire brokered by Trump, the Thai army attacked Cambodia on Monday. A Thai military spokesman said Thailand carried out an air strike on its neighbor Cambodia on Monday. Both sides are blaming each other for the fighting on their disputed border, in which a Thai soldier was killed.
After firing on Cambodian soldiers in Ubon Ratchathani province on Monday morning, Suvari said in a statement that the army responded to reports that Thai soldiers had been attacked with support fire weapons, killing one soldier and wounding four, according to media reports. Aircraft have started attacking military targets in many areas. Cambodia’s Defense Ministry spokeswoman Mali Socheta said Thai forces attacked Cambodian troops in the border provinces of Preah Vihear and Oder Meanchey on Monday morning. Thailand is accused of firing several rounds from tanks at the Tamon Thom temple and attacking other areas near Preah Vihear temple. He said Cambodia has not retaliated.
A Cambodian spokesman for the Oder Meanchey provincial administration said there were reports of gunfire in the areas of the centuries-old Tamon Thom and Ta Krabei temples. Many villagers living near the border are running to safe places. Thailand’s Second Army Region said about 35,000 people in Thailand had been evacuated from areas near the border with Cambodia since the fighting. The Thai military also accused the Cambodian army of firing BM-21 rockets towards civilian areas in Buri Ram province. In which there is no news of any casualty.
The two countries reported a small clash on Sunday in which two Thai army soldiers were injured. A few months ago, there were clashes between Thailand and Cambodia for five days. In which 43 people were killed and 300,000 people were rendered homeless. After this massive devastation, ceasefire was implemented. America, China and Malaysia had intervened to end the fighting.
Malaysia is the chairman of the regional block ASEAN. In October, US President Donald Trump co-signed a follow-on joint declaration between Thailand and Cambodia that called for new trade deals after the countries agreed to extend the ceasefire, but last month Thailand suspended the deal after an alleged landmine blast injured several soldiers, leading to reports of sporadic clashes between the two countries. The dispute remains over the boundaries mapped during France’s colonial rule in the region, with both countries claiming some border temples.
