America will not press for elections in Venezuela: Donald Trump

Washington. US President Donald Trump has taken a tough stance on the current situation in Venezuela and has made it clear that America will not put any pressure on holding hasty elections there. In an exclusive interview, Trump said that Venezuela is currently going through a broken system and a period of instability, so it is imperative to rebuild the structure of the country and stabilize the system before the elections. Discussing the situation arising after the arrest of Nicolas Maduro, the President said that it is not possible to hold elections there in the next 30 days because the current ground conditions are not favorable for voting. He stressed that democracy has no meaning unless people feel safe and are in a position to vote.
Trump completely rejected the possibility of war between America and Venezuela, saying that Washington is not at war against any country, but its fight is against those elements who smuggle drugs and are sending criminals and mental patients from their jails to America. He blamed Venezuela’s plight on the previous leadership, which had brought the country to the brink of crime and economic ruin. It is noteworthy that Maduro was caught during the American operation and he has been accused of serious charges related to drug trafficking and terrorism. Talking about the reconstruction of Venezuela, Trump said that American oil companies can play an important role in redeveloping the country’s energy sector and oil infrastructure. According to him, this work can be completed within 18 months. He clarified that the economic burden of reconstruction will be borne mainly by the oil companies, which they will be able to recover from future revenues. When Trump was asked who was currently running Venezuela, he confidently named himself. He told that Foreign Minister Marco Rubio is in constant touch with the leadership there. Finally, the President also responded to criticism that he did not seek permission from the US Congress for this action. He claimed that the MPs were fully informed and had the full support of the Congress. Trump also said in a warning tone that if the cooperation process fails, the US is prepared for military action in the future, although he is confident that it will not be necessary. At present, America’s entire focus is on restoring law and order in Venezuela and reviving its economy.
