San Francisco. American youth working in tech companies are getting trapped in the trap of Chinese peptides. American youth are adopting them to lose weight, increase mental concentration and keep the body more active. These peptides are being imported directly from China and their use is neither approved by the US government nor is there any concrete scientific evidence regarding their safety. Despite this, they are being openly promoted and used through startup offices, private networks and events like ‘Peptide Rave’. The demand for these unauthorized peptides in America has increased rapidly in recent times. According to statistics, their imports from China increased by almost eight times in the first nine months of 2025. These chemicals usually come in powder form, which people dissolve in water and inject themselves.
For this, insulin syringes are being easily purchased from online platforms. A Chinese peptide supplier working in San Francisco says that one person in a tech company starts using it and then gradually it becomes a whole group or cluster, where it is considered normal and safe. Peptides are actually small amino acid chains that claim to regulate hormones in the body, reduce inflammation and aid in recovery. Popular weight loss drugs like Ozempic and Vigovi also use peptides, but they came into the market after rigorous medical trials and government approval.
In contrast, people are now using unproven peptides like BPC-157, TB-500, oxytocin, epitalon, and retatutide, which are expected to improve injury healing, better sleep, anti-aging, and improve focus. Social media is further fueling this trend. DIY injection guides are widely available on TikTok and Instagram Reels, touting them as an easy and effective solution. To avoid the law, these are described on websites and videos as ‘research chemicals’ or ‘for study only’ so as to avoid claims for direct human use. However, the comments of the video and user experiences clearly indicate that they are being used only for weight loss, increasing focus and improving fitness.
