Biggest increase after 28 months, gas cylinder becomes costlier in the new year

The new year has started with a big shock in the morning. This shock is of inflation. Where the government has reduced the prices of piped natural cooking gas. On the other hand, the price of gas cylinder has increased. The special thing is that the biggest increase in the price of gas cylinder has been seen in 28 months. This means that the last time such a big rise was seen in October 2023. In fact, this increase has been seen in the prices of commercial gas cylinders.

An increase of Rs 111 has been seen in 3 out of the four metros of the country. Whereas in one metropolitan city an increase of Rs 110 has been seen. After which, the price of commercial gas cylinder in the country’s capital Delhi has reached around Rs 1700, which is the highest after June 2025. At the same time, prices in the country have reached close to Rs 1850. On the other hand, there has been no change in the prices of domestic gas cylinders in the country. Let us also tell you what the prices of commercial and domestic gas cylinders have become in the four metros of the country.

Increase in the price of commercial gas cylinders

According to IOCL data, there has been a rise in the prices of commercial gas cylinders. According to the data, for the first time after November 2023, an increase of more than Rs 100 has been seen. Whereas after October 2023, the biggest increase in the price of commercial gas cylinders has been seen.

An increase of Rs 111 has been seen in the price of commercial gas cylinder in Delhi, Kolkata and Mumbai cities. After which the price of commercial gas cylinder in the three metros has become Rs 1,691.50, Rs 1,795 and Rs 1,642.50 respectively. Whereas in Chennai, the price of commercial gas cylinder has increased by Rs 110, after which the price here has become Rs 1849.50.

No change in the price of domestic gas cylinder

On the other hand, there has been no change in the price of domestic gas cylinder. According to IOCL data, the price of domestic gas cylinder in the country’s capital Delhi is Rs 853, in Kolkata Rs 879, in Mumbai Rs 852.50 and in Chennai Rs 868.50. The last time any change was seen in the price of domestic gas cylinder was in April 2025.

When domestic companies had increased the price of gas cylinder by Rs 50. By the way, the last time the government had cut the price of domestic gas cylinders was in March 2024, i.e. before the Lok Sabha elections. Then the government had made domestic LPG cheaper by Rs 100.
