Why are you returning to India?
Rehman has been active as the party’s de facto leader from abroad for a long time and has been coordinating the strategy through online platforms. BNP leaders said, due to unclear reasons he has not been able to return to his country and be with his ailing mother.
Rahman’s withdrawal has been announced a day after the Election Commission of Bangladesh confirmed that the 13th parliamentary election will be held on February 12. BNP has indicated that if Khaleda Zia is not in a position to take up political responsibilities, Rehman will be made the prime ministerial candidate if the party comes to power.

If the survey turns into a result then Tariq can become the Prime Minister of Bangladesh. Before this, in the year 2001, Tariq’s mother was appointed the Prime Minister of Bangladesh for the last time. Since then Tariq’s family is away from power. In the meantime, if Tariq comes to Bangladesh and goes among the people. If the strategy is decided then the party is expected to get significant benefits from it.
