Bus running at blind speed lost control and overturned, 15 dead, 19 injured

Semarang. A tragic accident has occurred in Indonesia. At least 15 people died and 19 were seriously injured in a horrific road accident early Monday morning in Semarang city of Central Java province. The accident occurred at the intersection near the Krapyak toll exit, where a speeding bus lost control, hit the road barrier and overturned. According to local officials, the accident happened in the early morning when the bus was at high speed. Suddenly the driver lost control of the bus and the bus collided directly with the barrier installed on the roadside. The collision was so strong that the bus overturned and many passengers got trapped inside it. This accident has happened at a time when just a few days ago another tragic incident had come to light in Jakarta, the capital of Indonesia. Five people were killed in a fire in a residential house in Jakarta.
Budyono, head of the Semarang Search and Rescue Office, said the relief and rescue operation was quite challenging. He said that the glass panes of the bus were broken and the entry way was completely blocked. Many people were trapped inside the bus, to rescue them the rescue team had to make a way with the help of special equipment. According to Budiono, the rescue team had to enter the overturned bus with extreme caution and reach the injured. Every step was risky due to the shards of glass and the twisted structure of the bus, but after several hours of struggle all the victims were pulled out.
According to the report, the Semarang Search and Rescue Office has confirmed that all the injured have been admitted to local hospitals, where they are undergoing treatment. The process of identifying the dead and injured is ongoing, while police and related agencies investigate the cause of the accident.
The fire incident was also painful
Jakarta Regional Disaster Management head Isnawa Adji said that the fire broke out at around 8:10 pm on Thursday. He said that 10 fire engines were deployed on the spot to extinguish the fire and the fire could be controlled at around 11 pm. Preliminary investigation revealed that the house where the fire broke out was also being used as a warehouse for making accessories. Officials say that the cause of the fire could be an electrical short circuit, although the investigation into the matter is still going on. These continuously unfolding incidents have once again raised questions about road and fire safety in Indonesia.
