Chinese woman’s action sparked debate among people

Beijing. A Chinese woman has taken such a surprising step, which has sparked debate among people. This woman has offered to employ one daughter through advertisement in place of her own two daughters, in return for which she is ready to give a monthly salary of about $420 and a flat to live.
According to a recent report, the name of this woman, resident of Henan province, is Ma, who released this advertisement on a local TV program. During the program, Ma told that she is alone despite having two daughters. His elder daughter broke all relations with him after a dispute over the upbringing of her granddaughter. The elder daughter says that she is unemployed and can neither take care of her mother, nor does she want to have any relation with her. On the other hand, their younger daughter is mentally ill and not able to take care of herself. Ma had long ago divorced her husband and with time she gradually lost contact with other relatives. In the advertisement, Ma wrote that he is suffering from asthma and he needs a girl who will take care of him, take him to the hospital on time and give him affection like a daughter. In return he is willing to enter into a legal contract for the entire arrangement, including a flat from one of his properties and a regular pension of $420.
The unique ad has sparked a strong reaction on Chinese social media. Some people called it a sad attempt born out of human condition, while many people considered it emotional exploitation. One user wrote that it seems as if Ma is looking for a girl who will take care of both her and her sick daughter. Another person commented that with the property market in decline and a shortage of money, one cannot even find a nanny to support two people. A lawyer said that according to the law, it is the responsibility of the elder daughter to take care of the elderly parents and Ma cannot be separated from this responsibility through legal process. It is worth noting that the problem of loneliness of the elderly is continuously increasing in China. According to the survey conducted in 2021, about 60 percent of the elderly above 60 years of age live alone.
