Donald Trump said, if we do nothing on Greenland then Russia or China will occupy it

greenlandWashingtonUS President Donald Trump has once again taken a tough stance on Greenland, On Saturday he said that the US will take action on this Arctic Island, whether it is in an easy or hard way, During a conversation with oil industry representatives at the White House, Trump warned that if the US did not occupy Greenland, Russia or China would occupy it, forcing the US to accept these countries as neighbors, He said, ‘We are going to do something on Greenland, whether they like it or not, Our people want an easy deal, but if not, we will do it the hard way,

Donald Trump, on the basis of national security, insisted that the ownership of Greenland should be with America, so that it can be properly protected. Referring to former President Obama’s Iran deal, he said that short-term deals do not work, but permanent control is necessary. It is known that Greenland is a semi-autonomous region of Denmark and is home to approximately 57,000 inhabitants. It is rich in natural resources, especially rare minerals. The Trump administration is exploring several options to expand influence on the island, including a proposal to pay Greenlanders $10,000 to $100,000 per person in cash so they can break away from Denmark and move closer to the United States.

What does America offer?

According to the report, another option is the Compact of Free Association in which the US would provide financial aid and defense. In return, military access will be given. Although most Greenlanders want independence from Denmark, they do not want to become a part of the United States. This statement of Trump reiterates his desire of last years, when he had talked about buying Greenland. There is huge anger in Denmark and European countries over these statements of Trump.

Denmark also ready to attack

Denmark has warned that if there is an attack on Greenland, its soldiers will shoot first and ask questions later. European leaders have issued a joint statement saying that the future of Greenland lies only in the hands of its people and Denmark. This dispute is also posing a challenge to the NATO alliance, because Denmark is a member of NATO. Trump claims that Russia and China are increasing activities in the Arctic. At the same time, experts say that Greenland has no such direct threat. The matter is still in its early stages, but has the potential to escalate international tensions.
