Film- Maqbool (2003)

The film’s story is an adaptation of Shakespeare’s play Macbeth, in which Maqbool (Irrfan Khan) is the right-hand man of Jahangir Khan (Pankaj Kapur), a don. Nimmi (Tabu) is Jahangir Khan’s mistress, but she and Maqbool secretly fall in love. Nimmi encourages Maqbool’s ambitions and convinces him to kill Jahangir Khan as a don. After this role, Irrfan Khan increased his fees and started working only with selected directors.

With the 2003 film Haasil directed by Tigmanshu Dhulia, Irrfan Khan achieved the success that every actor wants to achieve. The story of the film was based on student politics of Allahabad University in the city of UP.
