India not included in the list of countries receiving migrant welfare in America

Washington. US President Donald Trump has revealed the country-wise ranking data of migrant welfare recipients. The thing to note is that India’s name is not in this list. It is not a normal thing for India’s name not to be in the list. This reflects the distinctive economic profile of Indian immigrants in the larger US diaspora. These show the share of immigrant families in the US who receive government assistance.
Bhutan tops the list, and the rate of Bhutanese immigrants receiving assistance from the US government is 81.4 percent. It is followed by Yemen (North) with 75.2 percent, Somalia with 71.9 percent and Marshall Islands with 71.4 percent. Many other countries also have high levels of welfare participation.
In this list, both Dominican Republic and Afghanistan have a rate of 68.1 percent. Congo is at 66 percent, Guinea at 65.8 percent and Iraq at 60.7 percent. This group especially includes many Central American, Caribbean and African countries. Guatemala is shown at 56.5 percent, Sudan at 56.3 percent, and El Salvador at 55.4 percent. Honduras is at 52.9 percent. Bangladesh is listed at 54.8 percent. Additionally, the second page of the list includes countries with lower, but still notable, participation in welfare. Ivory Coast leads the list with 49.1 percent, followed by Liberia with 48.9 percent and Algeria with 48.1 percent. Syria is listed at 48 percent. Jordan and Libya are both at 47.8 percent. Ethiopia is shown at 47.6 percent, Rwanda at 47.1 percent and Morocco at 46.6 percent. Pakistan is included at 40.2 percent and Egypt at 39.3 percent.
But India’s name is not found anywhere in the two-page list. Immigrants and welfare are major political issues in America, and India remains a hot topic of discussion. Despite this, it is absent in the list. It turns out that the Indian diaspora plays a huge role in the US economy, especially in technology, healthcare and engineering. They contribute significantly to income tax revenues and have been involved in launching many startups in Silicon Valley.
