Journalist Nazneen Munni threatened by fundamentalists in Bangladesh

Who Is Nazneen Munni—:This question is being discussed these days amidst the rapidly increasing violence and attacks on media in Bangladesh. Amidst the attacks on Hindus, violent demonstrations and violent atmosphere in Bangladesh, there is a serious threat to the safety of well-known journalist Nazneen Munni. Radical groups have demanded the removal of Global TV Bangladesh’s news head Nazneen Munni from the post and warned that failing this, the channel’s office will be burnt.

On December 21, 2025, some youth claiming to be members of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement reached the office of Global TV in Tejgaon, Dhaka. He clearly told the channel management that if Nazneen Munni is not removed, then like ‘Pratham Aalo’ and ‘The Daily Star’ the office will be set on fire. Their allegation was that the channel did not maintain impartiality in the coverage of Osman Hadi’s death. This incident was also confirmed by the organization’s president Rifat Rashid, who said that a member had gone to the office to submit the memorandum.

Nazneen Munni told that she was not present in the office at the time of the incident. Later 7–8 youth met the channel’s Managing Director Ahmed Hussain and demanded his removal and accused him of being Awami League supporters. He made the information about this threat public in a Facebook post.

Who Is Nazneen Munni—She is a famous journalist of Bangladesh and currently the news head of Global TV. Prior to this, she had been an assignment editor at DBC News. She has a strong presence on social media and has also been vocal in criticizing the Sheikh Hasina government ahead of 2024. The current developments have raised serious questions on media freedom in Bangladesh.
