Major train accident in southern Spain, 20 killed and 73 injured in collision between two high speed trains

Madrid (Spain). Two high-speed trains collided in southern Spain. In which at least 20 people died and more than 73 people are said to be injured. The accident occurred near Adamuz in Cordoba province, causing the suspension of rail services between Madrid and Andalusia. According to the information, a train going from Málaga to Madrid derailed and collided with another train coming from the front. According to media reports, there were around 500 passengers in both the trains.

Fear of increasing death toll
A high-speed train derailed in southern Spain on Sunday and collided with a train coming from the opposite direction, Spanish rail operator ADIF said. Emergency services said 20 people died and 73 were seriously injured in the collision. However, the death toll is expected to increase. Two Guardia Civil officials confirmed the death toll to The Associated Press by phone and text message. He spoke on condition of anonymity as per police rules.

The train derailed and collided with another train
The evening train between Málaga and Madrid derailed and collided with a train traveling from Madrid to Huelva, another city in southern Spain, according to ADIF. Emergency services in the province of Andalusia, where the accident occurred, said 20 people had died and 75 were seriously injured. According to the Civil Guard, many people are still trapped inside the coaches. Rescue operations are underway and emergency services are present at the scene. Here, after the accident, hospitals in Madrid have also been put on alert. 73 injured passengers have been taken to six different hospitals.

High-speed services suspended
High-speed rail services between Madrid and Andalusia have been suspended following the accident. Officials said that as a safety precaution, all trains running on the route have been sent back to their starting points. The Red Cross sent an ambulance from Córdoba and three more ambulances from Jaén. It also arranged for essential supplies for the passengers of both the trains.
