Islamabad. The marriage of Junaid Safdar, son of Pakistani leader Maryam Nawaz and grandson of former Pakistan PM Nawaz Sharif, is being discussed a lot on social media. While on one hand the bridal outfits of bride Shanjeh Ali Rohail are being praised, on the other hand Pakistani fashion content creator and stylist Moeed Shah has criticized the bride. She was criticized for wearing Indian fashion designer’s clothes.
According to the media report, Moeed wrote in his caption – So the wedding procession looks came out and I got confused… The main problem for him was that Shanzeh had chosen Tarun Tahiliani’s saree for her wedding procession. The stylist expressed disappointment that the bride had chosen a red saree that had already been worn by an Indian celebrity. In the video, he explained – I did not like this look of the bride, Shanzeh Ali Rohail at all. It faded. It lacked the wow factor. We expected something different, something memorable. And what did we get? Repetition and boredom? Shanzeh wore a Tarun Tahiliani saree, which Ananya Panday has already worn at an event.
Moeed argued that for such a big wedding, a high-profile political union between the families of Nawaz Sharif and Sheikh Rohail Asghar, the fashion should have been memorable rather than repetitive. Apart from the recycled aesthetic of Shanzeh’s wedding look, Moeed has also criticized the decision to ignore Pakistani craftsmanship. Noting that Shanzeh had already worn an Indian designer for her mehendi, she questioned the lack of local representation on the wedding day. She said that for the wedding procession, I really felt that I could have worn clothes from a Pakistani designer, this is the biggest political wedding of this season, millions of people are watching it in the country and abroad. You could have at least promoted local fashion.
Moeed also criticized the similarity in appearance of Shanzeh at the wedding function, saying that there was no difference between her mehendi and wedding function looks. Same hair, same glamour, same energy… there was nothing to change the mood. In the wedding procession, brides have the freedom to do most of the things. Moeed said that the groom’s mother completely disrobed the bride. Dressed in a golden suit by Pakistani designer Iqbal Hussain, Maryam Nawaz was praised for embracing the traditional spirit of a Pakistani wedding. The marriage of Nawaz Sharif’s grandson Junaid Safdar and Shanze Ali Rohail remains the center of discussion on social media.
