Pure Hindi echoed in the Parliament of Guyana, Indian origin minister challenged debate without paper

Georgetown. A historic and glorious moment was witnessed in the Parliament of the South American country Guyana when echoes of Hindi language were heard during the discussion on Budget 2026. Indian-origin Minister of State for Agriculture Vikash Ramkissoon not only gave a befitting reply in Hindi to the opposition MPs who questioned his linguistic ability, but also gave them an open challenge to debate in pure Hindi without any preparation. This roar of Hindi inside the House is now becoming increasingly viral on social media and is being seen as the growing pride of Hindi at the global level.
The entire controversy started when opposition MP Vishnu Pandey took a dig at Minister Vikash Ramkissoon’s ability to speak Hindi. The opposition did not expect that the response would be so fierce. Ramkisoon immediately stood up from his chair and without any hesitation said in pure Hindi, Honorable Speaker Sir, Respected Member Vishnu Pandey… I challenge them right now that at any level, at any place, they should decide the topic, and I will debate there without taking any paper. The members present in the House were stunned to see the minister’s confidence and command over the language. The Indian High Commission in Georgetown has also appreciated the event and proudly shared it as Gunji Hamari Hindi in the Parliament of Guyana. It is noteworthy that Vikash Ramkissoon’s roots are deeply connected to India. He has a master’s degree in commerce from Delhi University and is also an expert in law. Before entering politics, he worked as a successful manager in the banking sector. About 40 percent of Guyana’s population is of Indian origin, whose ancestors came there as indentured laborers from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar between 1838 and 1917. Today, leaders like Vikash Ramkissoon are not only active in the politics there, but also cherish their cultural and linguistic heritage with pride. His challenge has proved that even across the seven seas, Hindi is not only alive but also remains a powerful medium of political communication.
