Shooting at day-care center in Thailand, 34 including 22 children killed

Bangkok. A very sad and shocking news has come out from Thailand. A total of 34 people, including 22 children, were killed in an indiscriminate firing incident at a day-care center in southern Thailand. A former police officer is said to be behind the incident, who allegedly entered the day-care center and carried out this incident.
According to preliminary information received from media reports, the attacker first took children and teachers hostage and then started firing. A large number of innocent children are included in the dead, due to which there is an atmosphere of mourning and anger in the entire country. However, the total number of dead has not yet been officially confirmed by the local administration.

Meanwhile, a separate incident of firing was also reported from Hat Yai area in southern Thailand. It is being told that an 18-year-old youth opened fire in a school premises, in which two people were seriously injured. The injured have been admitted to the hospital and their condition is being monitored.
According to local authorities in Songkhla province, police cordoned off the area after receiving reports that a gunman had taken students and teachers hostage at a school. Security forces launched operations to control the situation. During this time the incident of firing came to light. After the incident, security arrangements have been tightened in the entire area. Police are investigating the background of the attacker, the source of the weapon and possible reasons behind the incident. It is also being ascertained whether there is any connection between the two incidents or whether they are separate incidents.
This tragic incident has raised serious questions on the security arrangements of schools and public places in Thailand. The government is likely to issue an official statement soon.
