The foundation of modern warfare, intelligence and economic power now rests on advanced AI chips.

Washington. US lawmakers and former national security officials have warned that the increasing competition between America and China over AI has now become a major security issue for the country. He says that the foundation of modern warfare, intelligence system and economic power now rests on advanced AI chips. According to media reports, experts said that in the coming ten years, this race of AI will decide who will be ahead in military power and whether America will be able to maintain its technological edge over China or not. The chairman of the committee said in clear words that winning the AI race is necessary for both America’s national and economic security. He said that this will have a direct impact on whether America remains ahead of China in military strength or not.
According to the chairman of the committee, today AI is being used in the army’s command system, surveillance, cyber operations and modernization of nuclear weapons. Former US National Security Advisor Matt Pottinger warned that if China was given access to advanced American AI chips, its military strength would increase. He said that Nvidia’s advanced chips can strengthen China’s cyber warfare, drone and intelligence capabilities. Pottinger said that in China’s policy, the technology which is made for general use is also used for military purposes.
Former Biden administration official John Finer said that AI has now become the most important competition between America and China. He warned that carelessness on this issue could prove costly. He said China increasingly views AI as a key technology that will enable its economic and military ambitions. For this reason, restrictions imposed on the export of advanced chips and semiconductor manufacturing equipment have been important in slowing down China’s pace. According to Pottinger, China is trying to bridge this gap by purchasing advanced chips from abroad and wants to match America at any cost. Lawmakers also expressed concern that private Chinese technology companies that buy American chips often work closely with the government. Pottinger cited the examples of companies like DeepSeek, Alibaba and Tencent, which are linked to China’s major military targets.
