Who was Tatiana Schlossberg?

Tatiana Schlossberg, 35th President of the United States, John F. Kennedy’s granddaughter and Caroline Kennedy’s daughter. She was an environmental journalist and wrote for prestigious magazines like The New Yorker. She was a mother of two children and was leading a completely active, fit and healthy life until her life suddenly changed in May 2024. That year he came to know about cancer. Then his age was 34 years.

Died due to which disease?

Tatiana was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia (AML) after she gave birth to her second child. A few hours after delivery, doctors found an abnormally high white blood cell count in his blood. While the normal number is 4,000 to 11,000, their count had reached 1,31,000. Investigation revealed that he had Inversion 3, a rare mutation of AML, which is mostly found in elderly patients. According to doctors, this cancer has a tendency to return again and again and is not cured by normal treatment.

From chemotherapy to stem cell transplant

Tatiana had to undergo several rounds of chemotherapy. After this his sister donated stem cells, which led to the first bone marrow transplant. She even went into remission for some time, but the cancer returned. After this, many clinical trials including CAR-T cell therapy were conducted, a second transplant was also done, but the disease kept returning every time. Eventually the doctors told her that she might not live more than a year.

Poignant story written before death

Shortly before her death, Tatiana Schlossberg wrote a long and very emotional article in The New Yorker. The title of the article is- A Battle with My Blood. This article was written by his maternal grandfather, former US President John F. Published on the 62nd anniversary of Kennedy’s assassination. In this article, Tatiana tells that when a person realizes that his life is not much longer, then memories automatically start returning. Childhood, friends, people, places and small things, everything starts coming to mind together.

Expressed the pain of separation from children

In his article he has described the biggest pain as being away from his children. She writes that due to the risk of infection, she could not even take proper care of her newborn daughter. Neither could she take him in her lap, nor could she bathe him, nor could she spend time with him properly. He was afraid whether his daughter would even remember him or not. He wrote, will he know that I am his mother? At the same time, she wanted to save every small memory within herself for her son. His words, his laughter and his hugs. At the end of the article she writes that she doesn’t know what happens after death, but as long as she breathes, she will cherish the memories and hope that her children will know that their mother was not just sick, she loved them very much.

sentimental words for your husband

Tatiana has also praised her husband wholeheartedly in her article. She wrote that during this difficult period, her husband stood by her at every step. He slept on the hospital floor, talked to every doctor, took all the decisions related to insurance and treatment, and tolerated their anger silently. Tatiana writes that she considers herself very lucky to have found such a life partner, and is equally sad that she has to leave this beautiful life so soon.

the unfinished book

Tatiana says that she was told during the treatment that she would have to undergo chemotherapy for months and then undergo a bone marrow transplant. The treatment was long, painful and uncertain. She wanted to write a book on the ocean and environment, but illness took away this dream too. She wrote that, I will never know whether we saved the oceans or allowed them to be destroyed.

Question your own relative’s policies

In her article, Tatiana mentioned her cousin and US Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Questions were also raised on the policies of Kennedy Jr. He wrote that his thinking regarding vaccines and medical research could prove dangerous for patients suffering from serious diseases like cancer. Tatiana expressed concern that the government funding and research with which efforts were being made to save her life are now being cut and this will impact not just her but thousands of patients.
