I am a peacemaker… I stopped the India-Pakistan war, no one is more deserving of the Nobel Peace Prize than me: Trump

Washington. US President Donald Trump has once again made a big claim about his role in international diplomacy and has given himself credit for stopping a possible nuclear war between India and Pakistan. Said, I am the peacemaker of the world. While boasting of his achievements, Trump not only described himself as the greatest deserving of the Nobel Peace Prize, but also claimed, quoting Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, that due to Trump’s intervention, the lives of crores of people were saved. He said that last year in May 2025, when a dire war-like situation had arisen between the two nuclear-armed countries, he had ended the conflict through a rapid order.
Trump said during a public address that whether people like him or not, he has succeeded in resolving eight of the world’s major wars, some of which had been going on for the last 36 years. Referring to the strained relations between India and Pakistan, Trump claimed that at that time eight fighter planes had been shot down in the air and both the countries were standing on the verge of a nuclear attack. He stressed, “I don’t think anyone in history deserves the Nobel Prize more than me.” There should be a reward for every war you stop. He further said that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had publicly admitted during his visit to America that due to the activism of President Trump, the lives of more than one crore people could be saved.
However, as always, the Indian government has completely rejected these claims of Trump. New Delhi’s official stand is absolutely clear that the decision on ceasefire on the border was the result of direct military talks and DGMO level talks between India and Pakistan and not any pressure from any third party. It is noteworthy that in response to the death of 26 people in a terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir in April 2025, the Indian Army had launched Operation Sindoor against terrorist bases based in Pakistan. India says that after Pakistan’s retaliatory action, the Indian Air Force and Army demonstrated their power, due to which Pakistan itself appealed for ceasefire under pressure. Apart from India-Pakistan relations, Trump also warned in a stern tone on the internal situation of Iran. Referring to the ongoing protests there, he said that Iran’s government is currently in great trouble and protesters are taking control of cities in a way that was never thought of before. Trump criticized the policies of former President Obama and said that he will not show leniency. He clearly warned that if the Iranian government began a violent crackdown on its own protesters, the US would intervene militarily and hit the targets where it would hurt the enemy the most.
