Donald Trump’s attitude softened, said – killings have stopped in Iran, now there is no plan to hang them

Washington. Amidst several days of threats, warnings and fear of conflict, US President Donald Trump has said that the killings during anti-government protests in Iran have now stopped. This statement by Trump is being seen as a relatively cautious signal after his sharp stance in recent days and warning of military action.

Trump’s statement comes after growing concern over the future of 26-year-old Iranian protester Irfan Sultani. Sultani was detained less than a week ago and there were fears that he would soon be hanged.

Both murder and hanging stopped: Trump
While speaking to reporters in Washington, Trump said that he has received information that both the killings and proposed executions of protesters have been stopped. Trump said- I have just received some information that the killings have stopped. The hangings have also stopped and now no one will be hanged, about which there was a lot of discussion for the last few days.

However, when asked who gave him this information, he refused to name anyone and only said that this information came from very important sources on the other side.

Sultani’s hanging postponed
Meanwhile, Norway-based Henga human rights organization said late on Wednesday night that Sultani’s execution has been postponed for the time being. After this news, some relief was seen at the international level.

Trump said that now his administration will adopt a policy of wait and watch i.e. keeping an eye on the situation. He also claimed that the White House has received a very good statement from Iran. However, he did not completely rule out the possibility of military action, especially at a time when the US has started withdrawing some personnel from an airbase in Qatar amid regional tensions.
