500 year old book on natural remedies found

Manchester. Scientists at the University of Manchester have found an old book from around 1531, which is believed to be from the Renaissance period of Europe. This book was preserved in the John Rylands Library and was written by an eye doctor named Bartholomeus Vogther. In this book, the diseases suffered by the common people during that period and their treatments have been mentioned in detail. At that time doctors and Vaidyas used to advise treatment through natural things. For example, the use of agar wood was suggested for heart related diseases, which was considered helpful in cleaning the heart and keeping the heartbeat normal. The book also contains strange remedies for common problems like headache. At that time people were advised to put cinnamon in tobacco pipes and smoke. But the most surprising solutions are related to baldness and hair strength. At that time, it was believed that hair fall was a disease and to cure it, it was advised to apply human feces on the head. People believed that by doing this the head disease would be cured and hair would start growing again.
Not only this, there is also mention in the book of applying the mixture made by grinding lizard heads on the head for strong and thick hair. The book contains surprising methods not only related to hair but also for the treatment of mouth ulcers. At that time, teeth of hippopotamus were used to cure mouth ulcers. Researchers say that different types of handwriting are seen in this book, due to which it is estimated that many people might have added their own experiences and treatments in it. However, it is not clear whether the physicians who prescribed these remedies themselves adopted them or not. It is a matter of relief that all the treatments mentioned in the book were not harmful, but many of the methods seem very strange and unbelievable from today’s perspective.
Let us tell you that there would hardly be any person in the world who likes his falling hair. Especially men try every possible way to avoid baldness, whereas the problem of hair fall in women sometimes becomes the cause of mental stress and even depression. In today’s era, there are many options like wigs, hair transplant and advanced treatments, but the situation was completely different in the 15th and 16th centuries. At that time, there was a lack of modern medicine and people used such indigenous and strange remedies to grow hair.
