Dhaka extended its hand to strengthen Indian cooperation and said – we want to improve relations.

Dhaka. After the political change in Bangladesh and Tariq Rahman becoming the Prime Minister, efforts to bring bilateral diplomatic and security relations with India back on track have intensified. In an important development in this context, in early March, the head of Bangladesh’s top defense intelligence agency, Directorate General of Forces Intelligence (DGFI), paid a high-level visit to India. This is the first official visit by any top military or intelligence official to India after the Tariq Rehman government took over, which is being considered extremely important for the future security framework between the two countries.
According to the information, the newly appointed DGFI Director General of Bangladesh Major-General Qaiser Rashid Choudhary visited Delhi between March 1 and 3. During his short but effective visit, he met Indian intelligence agency RAW chief Parag Jain and Director General of Military Intelligence Lieutenant General R. S. Had in-depth discussion with Raman. During a special meeting held on March 2, the intelligence chiefs of the two countries discussed in detail cross-border suspicious activities, intelligence sharing and strategies to further deepen the security partnership. India has long been concerned about anti-India activities using Bangladeshi soil, and the priority now is to jointly address these challenges. Bangladesh’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Shama Obaid Islam has clarified on this matter that the government is committed to ensuring justice in the Hadi murder case. He said that since there is a prisoner transfer treaty between India and Bangladesh, all diplomatic efforts will be made to bring back the accused. Security experts believe that Major-General Qaiser Rashid’s visit to Delhi and the subsequent arrest of wanted criminals in India clearly indicate that the new government is ready to give a new and positive direction to security relations with India. In the times to come, this mutual coordination may prove to be more effective on sensitive issues like border security and terrorism.
