Are carbon emissions being reduced due to the use of green steel? Know the claim of the report

By making it mandatory to use 26 percent green steel in government projects, emissions of 20.9 million tonnes of carbon dioxide can be reduced by the year 2030. If the share of green steel becomes 37 percent, then 29.7 million tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions can be avoided. This is equivalent to taking approximately 9 million cars off the road every year. This information has come in the assessment report released on Thursday by the Confederation of Indian Industry i.e. CII and Climate Catalyst.

Executive Director of CII and Chairman of the Board of Global Ecolabeling Network K. S. Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Urban 2.0, Metro Rail Projects and Rail Projects The use of green steel increases project costs by only 0.2 per cent to 1.2 per cent.
