Crane of high-speed project falls on train, 22 passengers killed

Bangkok. A heartbreaking train accident occurred in Thailand’s Nakhon Ratchasima province on Wednesday morning. In which at least 22 people died tragically. The accident occurred when a huge construction crane fell on a passenger train going from Bangkok to north-eastern Thailand. Due to this collision, the train coaches derailed and there was an outcry on the spot.
This horrific accident happened when a giant crane engaged in construction work suddenly fell on a passenger train going from Bangkok to north-eastern Thailand. The direct impact of the crane was so strong that several coaches of the train derailed and there was an outcry at the spot.
The accident occurred in Sikhio district, about 230 kilometers (143 mi) from Bangkok. According to the information, this train was going towards Ubon Ratchathani province. According to the local administration, a high-speed rail project was underway in the area. Meanwhile, a heavy crane present at the construction site went out of control and fell on the coaches of the train passing below. After the huge explosion caused by the falling of the crane, a minor fire also broke out in the train coaches, causing panic among the passengers.
As soon as the information was received, police and fire department teams reached the spot. The fire brigade personnel brought the fire under control after a lot of effort, but by then there had been huge loss of life and property. Local police chief Thachapon Chinnavong has officially confirmed that so far 22 people have lost their lives in the accident. Apart from this, at least 30 people are seriously injured, who have been admitted to nearby hospitals for treatment. Relief and rescue operations are still underway and rescue teams are searching for possible survivors buried under the debris, due to which the death toll is expected to rise further. After this horrific accident, the administration has indefinitely stopped the operation of trains on this railway route connecting Bangkok and north-eastern provinces. Police have started investigating the matter as to what technical fault or negligence caused the crane engaged in construction work to fall on the train. The government has expressed deep condolences to the families of the deceased and has given instructions to provide better treatment to the injured.
