Gang rape of Hindu widow in Bangladesh

Dhaka. A Hindu widow woman was allegedly gang-raped in Kaliganj area in Bangladesh. It is alleged that two people first raped the woman and then tied her to a tree and cut her hair.
According to local media reports, the victim said in the complaint lodged with the police that about two and a half years ago, she had purchased three decimal land and a two-storey house in Ward No. 7 of Kaliganj Municipality from Shaheen and his brother for Taka 20 lakh. After this, accused Shaheen allegedly started making objectionable proposals to the woman. When she refused, he continued harassing her.
According to the victim, on Saturday evening, when two relatives from her village had come home, Shaheen along with his companion Hasan forcibly entered her house. It is alleged that both of them raped the woman and later demanded 50 thousand taka (about 37 thousand rupees) from her.
