Imran and his wife Bushra Bibi were sentenced to 17 years of imprisonment each.

Islamabad. Big news is coming from the politics of Pakistan where the problems of former Prime Minister Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi have increased. In the Toshakhana-2 corruption case, the court has sentenced both of them to 17 years of long imprisonment.
The special court formed in Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail gave this decision. The judge has given a total punishment of 17 years to both of them under different sections. Also, a heavy fine of 1 crore 64 lakh Pakistani rupees has been imposed on him. However, due to Bushra Bibi being a woman, there is talk of some leniency in the punishment, but the punishment is still quite strict.
Actually, the whole matter is of 2021, when the Saudi Arabian government had given some expensive gifts to Imran. This included precious watches, diamonds and gold jewellery. The rule says that whatever gifts one receives from foreign leaders while holding government office, they have to be deposited in the Toshakhana (government treasury). If you want, you can buy them later by paying the fixed price. Now the allegation against former Prime Minister Imran and his wife Bushra Bibi in the case is that the actual value of these gifts was around Rs 7 crore, but on paper they were shown to be only Rs 58-59 lakh. It is being said that both of them together tried to grab these valuable things at a very low price.
21 witnesses presented their views in the court. Both Imran and Bushra were present there at the time of the decision. Imran clearly says that all this is a political conspiracy against him and he is being implicated. Imran Khan is behind bars since August 2023. Although he had earlier got bail in some cases, but now this new decision has put him in trouble again.
