
Moscow. Russian President Vladimir Putin has described India as a sovereign country and a reliable partner. Putin said this at the inauguration of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council on Sunday. The purpose of this meeting is to deepen cooperation within the Eurasian Economic Union. During this, Putin said that the EAEU has firmly established itself as a self-reliant center of the emerging multipolar world. The Eurasian Union was established in 2015 by Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan, which was later joined by Armenia and Kyrgyzstan.
According to media reports, in this meeting Putin, while referring to India, said that we are working on another preferential trade agreement with India. A country that is sovereign, a trustworthy partner and has a population of 1.4 billion people and a GDP of US$4 billion. Putin said that I hope that the meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Council will be productive and will help us make progress on all issues of mutual interest. Earlier this month, Russian President Putin visited India, where he held a bilateral meeting with PM Modi.
According to the report, during the visit, Putin had said that his country will continue to export oil to India uninterrupted at cheap and affordable rates. Indian oil refiners have resumed buying oil from Russian companies that are not subject to Western sanctions, the report said.
