Not just two – Dilip Kumar played three characters in this film, an example even today

Bollywood | Dilip Kumar has impressed everyone with his acting in the Bollywood industry. He was awarded many honors in the country and abroad. Some people know him as the Tragedy King while others call him the school of acting. Dilip Kumar romanced on screen, became a villain and also did comedy. He breathed life into even the sensitive characters and his characters left a deep impression in the hearts of the audience. He played double roles in many films. But there was also a film in which the actor played a triple role.

11th December 2025 is the 103rd birth anniversary of Dilip Kumar. On this occasion, let’s talk about the film in which Dilip Kumar played a triple role. He played the father in the film and also played the role of the sons. It is a different matter that the film could not do anything special at the box office.

Did wonders in the movie Bairag

Dilip Kumar was a great master of acting and used to adapt to every kind of role.
It is not easy for anyone to play the role of both father and son in one film. But Dilip Sahab had done this amazing thing. The film Bairaag was released 49 years ago in the year 1976. In the film, Dilip Kumar played the role of Kailash and his two sons Bhola and Sanjay. His acting in the film was highly praised and he was also nominated in the Best Actor category by Filmfare. Saira Banu was seen opposite him in this. The film was directed by the great director Ajit Sen. He was always known for giving creative cinema and also received the National Award.

This was Dilip Kumar’s last film as a hero.

This film could not perform as was expected and proved to be a flop at the box office. This was Dilip Kumar’s third consecutive flop film and this was seen for the first time in his career. There is no data on its box office figures but the film was a disaster and could not attract the attention of the public. After this the actor took a break of 4-5 years and made a comeback in the year 1981 with the film Kranti. This was the second innings of his career and the actor gave many hit films during this period also. Worked in films like Vidhaata, Karma, Mashaal, Shakti and Saudagar. His film Qila was released in the year 1998. After this film, the actor retired from acting and after this none of his films were released.

Won many awards
