‘Now there is more intimacy in films’, Bhagyashree talks about changes in cinema; Didn’t get work after marriage

Bhagyashree, who made her debut with Salman Khan in the film ‘Maine Pyar Kiya’, talked about the difference between the films of the 90s and today’s films. He expressed displeasure over showing unnecessary intimacy in films in the present times. He also believes that a film can be made and be successful even without intimacy.

Now people have many options for entertainment

During a conversation with Variety India, Bhagyashree talked about the changes in the 90s and today’s cinema. When he was asked which changes in today’s cinema do he like and which do he dislike? On this the actress said that cinema is a reflection of the society. In the 90s it was the only means of entertainment, the only entertainment that gave the family a chance to spend time together. Today families have become smaller, people have become more individualistic and the mediums of creative art have also become numerous. Therefore now people have many options.

Films can be made even without intimacy

The actress believes that it has now become impossible to please every type of audience. Movies are divided into different groups, genres, indie films, art films, etc. I really feel that even though more realistic cinema is being made now, it is not necessary to show such intimacy that you feel uncomfortable sitting with your parents or children. Stories can be bold, different and interesting without showing rebellion against society.

Patriarchal characters were prevalent in the 90s

Bhagyashree said that in the 90s, patriarchal characters dominated the stories. This reduced the opportunities for actresses to work in films after marriage. However, working women are still a concept for the society, but with the coming forward of more educated women, there has been a change in the attitude towards women. Men also deserve congratulations for motivating women to study and work after marriage.

Bhagyashree will be seen in ‘Raja Shivaji’

Bhagyashree started her acting career with the 1989 film ‘Maine Pyar Kiya’. Salman Khan was in the lead role in this film directed by Sooraj Barjatya. After marriage, she took a break from the industry to focus on her personal life. In 2003, she made a comeback to Bollywood with ‘Maa Santoshi Maa’ and later acted in films like ‘Thalaivi’, ‘Radhe Shyam’ and ‘Chhatrapati’. Now Bhagyashree will be seen in Riteish Deshmukh’s upcoming film Raja Shivaji. It is scheduled to release in theaters on May 1.
