Washington. The ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine has now reached such a devastating point that even the last few hopes for peace seem to be coming to an end. A major drone attack on Russian President Vladimir Putin’s private residence in Novgorod has created a stir in international politics. A total of 91 drones were used in this attack which took place at midnight on 28-29 December 2025. However, Russia’s air defense system destroyed all the drones in time, due to which President Putin is completely safe, but this incident has further stoked the fire of war.
US President Donald Trump has reacted strongly to this attack and called it unacceptable. Trump believes that this attack was not only wrong, but it was done at a very wrong time. President Trump revealed that after this incident, Putin himself called him and informed him about the attack. According to Trump, Putin is extremely angry about this attack and considers it a direct plot to assassinate him. Trump said, attacking someone’s home is a different and serious thing. This attack is like sabotaging the peace efforts. Trump told that he had a long conversation with Putin on the phone, in which Putin called this attack a major shock. Considering the seriousness of this situation, Trump has currently banned the supply of Tomahawk missiles. He believes that the present situation is very delicate and any such action will add fuel to the fire. At the time of the election, Trump had promised to end the war, but this latest attack has created a big wall in front of his mediation efforts.
The views of Russia and Ukraine on this entire incident are completely contradictory. Russia claims that Ukraine systematically targeted the President’s residence through 91 drones. The Kremlin has made it clear that it will not take this attack lightly and will now reconsider the policy of any talks with Ukraine or its next military action. From Russia it is being described as a terrorist act.
Ukraine rejected the allegations
On the other hand, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has rejected these allegations outright. Ukraine says that they have not carried out any such attack. The Ukrainian administration argues that Russia itself is preparing the background for a major and horrific attack on Kiev by making such allegations. Thousands of people have already lost their lives and millions have been rendered homeless in this war that has been going on for more than two years. This attack on Putin’s house has now strengthened the fear that some very destructive retaliatory action may be seen from Russia in the coming days.
