KievA massive missile attack took place in Kharkiv, Ukraine’s second largest city, on Saturday amid the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine. The Russian missile hit a five-story residential building, killing at least seven people and injuring 10 others, according to officials. Three children are also among the injured. After the attack, relief and rescue teams are carrying out continuous operations to rescue people trapped under the debris.

Zelensky calls for international response

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky strongly condemned the attack, saying the world should respond strongly to such attacks. He said that Russia fired 29 missiles and about 480 drones on Ukraine overnight, whose targets were energy infrastructure and several important cities, including Kiev.

Ukrainian air defense foiled several attacks

According to preliminary information, Ukraine’s air defense system shot down 19 missiles and 453 drones. However, 9 missiles and 26 drones fell at different places, causing damage in many areas. Damage has been reported in at least 22 locations across the country from the attacks. About 80 firefighters were deployed to extinguish infrastructure fires following drone attacks in the southern region of Odessa. Ukraine’s government railway company Ukrzaliznytsia said that due to damage to the railway infrastructure, the routes of many trains had to be changed.

Russia-Ukraine war continues for four years

It has been more than four years since Russia’s attack on Ukraine. During this period, Russia has used Iranian-designed Shaheed drones on a large scale and many times hundreds of drone attacks have been carried out in a single night. Meanwhile, due to increasing tensions in West Asia and other global crises, international attention seems to be diverting from this war to some extent.
