Abu Dhabi/DubaiIn today’s time, mobile phone has become an important part of our life, In UAE, from school bus to office and home, mobile phones are seen in people’s hands all the time, Mobile has become essential for work, family, security and staying connected with friends, But doctors say that excessive connection with mobile is now becoming a threat to health,
According to doctors, feeling nervous or uneasy as soon as you move away from the mobile phone indicates a mental condition called ‘nomophobia’. This means the fear of being without a mobile phone. According to a study published in the International Journal of Research Studies in Education, 94 percent of mobile users in America are struggling with this problem in some form or the other.
Although this study is based on America, mental health experts in UAE say that similar symptoms are being seen increasingly here too. Doctors say that most people themselves do not understand that they have nomophobia. This disease does not appear directly, rather its signs are visible in everyday problems.
Dr. Omar bin Abdulaziz, psychiatrist at NMC Royal Hospital in Abu Dhabi, said that due to distance from mobile, people start facing problems like insomnia, irritability, anxiety, difficulty in concentrating and stress. Especially when the phone is not at hand or the network is not available. Doctors say that this problem is increasing because mobile phones have become completely integrated into our daily routine. Using the phone till late night deteriorates the quality of sleep and increases mental stress.
