Luxembourg. Indian Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar’s recent visit to Luxembourg has given a new height and modern direction to the bilateral relations between the two countries. During this important visit, he met the President of Luxembourg, Grand Duke Guillaume and conveyed warm greetings to him on behalf of the President of India Draupadi Murmu. Jaishankar appreciated the Grand Duke’s positive outlook towards India and his commitment to deepening our mutual partnership. This meeting is being considered very respectable and future-oriented at the diplomatic level.
The main highlight of this visit was the discussion focused on future technologies. In a high-level meeting with Luxembourg’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Xavier Bettel, Jaishankar made it clear that India and Luxembourg can now cooperate in a more productive manner beyond traditional trade in modern areas such as fintech, space research, digital technology and Artificial Intelligence. He emphasized that in view of the present global circumstances, partnership in these areas is not only the need of the hour but is also extremely beneficial for the economies of both the countries.
Underlining the role of the active Indian community in Luxembourg, the External Affairs Minister said that along with a strong trade relationship, we must now focus on emerging technologies. He expressed confidence that joint efforts in the field of digital world and AI will yield more effective results than before. Referring to the global geopolitical instability and rapidly changing international environment, he said that an open and frank discussion between India and Luxembourg on the current situation in the world will prove beneficial for both sides.
Expressing his gratitude for the warm welcome extended by Xavier Bettel, the External Affairs Minister appreciated his personal support for the revival of bilateral relations. This visit is an indication that India is exploring new possibilities with its European partners in strategic areas like space and high technology. Jaishankar’s visit is part of India’s proactive foreign policy that gives top priority to collective and technical cooperation to face global challenges.
