Cuttack, Odisha — Dr. Sandeep Rout, Assistant Professor (Senior Scale) in Forestry at Sri Sri University, Odisha, continues to make significant contributions to forestry education, research, and sustainable development through his multidisciplinary expertise and leadership.

A distinguished academician and researcher, Dr. Rout holds an impressive academic portfolio that includes B.Sc. Forestry, M.Sc. Forestry (Forest Products), Ph.D. in Forestry, an MBA in Project & Rural Management, PGDM in Rural and Agribusiness Management, ICAR NET in Agroforestry, and advanced qualifications in Health, Safety, and Environment. He is also a Gold Medalist in M.Sc. Forestry from the Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology and a recipient of the prestigious DST INSPIRE Fellowship during his doctoral research at SHUATS University.

Dr. Rout’s research specialization spans forest species propagation, plant tissue culture, agroforestry systems, seed germination, natural resource management, and medicinal and aromatic plants, with notable work on Saraca asoca, a plant of high medicinal value. His scholarly work has been published in several reputed national and international journals, contributing valuable insights into sustainable forestry practices and modern agronomy in the 21st century.

With over five years of teaching, research, and extension experience at Sri Sri University, Dr. Rout plays a vital role in curriculum development and the advancement of research initiatives within the Environmental Science and Forestry Department. He is highly regarded by students and peers alike for his commitment to mentoring, practical learning, and innovation-driven education.

Beyond academics, Dr. Rout has taken on several key leadership and community-oriented roles. He has served as Farm Convener, Study Tour Coordinator, Farmers Club Coordinator, and Rover Scout Leader and Unit Head with the Odisha State Bharat Scouts and Guides. His dedication to community service and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) was recently recognized when he was honored by the Honorable Governor of Odisha, Shri Raghubar Das Ji, for his impactful community and SDG-related activities.
