Army operation ends in Balochistan, claims to have killed 216 fighters

The Pakistani Army informed on Thursday that 216 rebels have been killed in the operation against insurgents in the restive Balochistan province. However, 36 civilians and 22 army personnel also lost their lives in this bloody conflict that lasted for several days. A statement from the Army’s media wing, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), claimed that the operation named ‘Rad-ul-Fitna-1’, which was launched on January 26, has now been successfully completed.

What did Pakistani Army say?

The Army said that concrete intelligence was received about the presence of rebels in the outskirts of Panjgur and Harnai districts. After this the security forces started action there. The army attacked rebel positions, initially killing 41 rebels. A total of 216 insurgents were later killed during retaliatory action and clearing operations by security forces. The army claims that this action has caused huge damage to the leadership of the rebel network, their command structure and their ability to work.

Railways restored

Meanwhile, Pakistan Railways spokesperson Muhammad Kashif said that rail service has been restored in Balochistan after being closed for five days. Railway tracks were damaged at many places during the attacks, due to which the movement of trains from Quetta was stopped due to security reasons. Now after the repairs the traffic is becoming normal.

Proposals passed in the assembly

On the other hand, the National Assembly of Pakistan passed a resolution on Tuesday. It demanded the government to adopt a tough and aggressive national strategy against the insurgents and those supporting them. It is noteworthy that Balochistan, bordering Iran and Afghanistan, has been a center of violence for a long time. Baloch insurgents here often target the $60 billion China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (C-PAC) projects. Even in March 2025, the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) had claimed responsibility for the hijacking of the Jafar Express train, in which 31 people were killed and more than 300 passengers were taken hostage.
