Donald Trump’s big decision, Anthropic out; OpenAI’s entry into Pentagon

WashingtonSam Altman, chief executive officer of American AI company OpenAI, said on Friday that the company has signed an agreement with the US Defense Department Pentagon. Under this, its AI models will be used in the Defense Agency’s classified networks with ‘technical security measures’. Altman said that the company’s two most important security principles are related to banning mass surveillance at the domestic level and placing the responsibility of use of force in the hands of humans, which also includes autonomous weapons systems. He said that these principles have been made part of this agreement.

Will be deployed only on cloud network

“We will also create technical safeguards to ensure that our models function properly, as the War Department required,” Altman said. We will deploy FDE (Final Development Authentication) to support and ensure the security of our models, and deploy these only on cloud networks. “We are requesting the War Department to offer these same terms to all AI companies, which we think everyone should accept.”

Trump instructs federal agencies to stop using Anthropic

The announcement comes as rival AI startup Anthropic insisted on similar security provisions in its agreement with the Pentagon, drawing the ire of the Trump administration this week. President Donald Trump has instructed all federal agencies to immediately stop using Anthropic technology. With this, the Pentagon and Anthropic have come face to face. According to reports, Anthropic will challenge the Pentagon in court over labeling its AI technology as a ‘supply chain risk’ following Trump’s strict orders to agencies.

Anthropic will go to court against Trump administration’s decision

The US Defense Department Pentagon is embroiled in a serious dispute with the famous AI company Anthropic. When he is asking Anthropic to allow its AI model Claude to be used without any restrictions in the US military. Along with this, it was also warned that if the AI company does not do this, it will be designated as a supply chain risk. This is such a serious step, which can badly affect his business.
