Gautami said in an interview to Siddharth Kannan, “I got a call at 2.30 in the night. My child was small and at that time I was breastfeeding my child. So when I got a call at 2.30-3 in the night saying, ‘Listen, such and such has happened…’, my first reaction was very strange. I took the phone and placed it straight in front of Ram. All I could say was – ‘What?’ At that time, I did not even want to think anything further, so instead of talking, I handed the phone to Ram. Gautami further said, “After some time, when I thought about it, only one question came to my mind, was it right for me to throw the phone because, see, Ram was working continuously in those days. There were days when he would not come home for 24 hours, 48 hours. The workload on television was very heavy.”
