Washington. US President Donald Trump has reiterated his claim to end the India-Pakistan conflict in a bilateral meeting with Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu. In a bilateral meeting with Netanyahu and his delegation at Mar-a-Lago on Monday, Trump said that in the first year of his second term in the White House, he has stopped eight wars so far.
According to media reports, Trump claimed that he stopped the war between Armenia and Azerbaijan, threatened to impose tariffs on both countries, as well as ended other conflicts, but he is not given credit for this. After this, Trump also reiterated his claim of stopping the conflict between India and Pakistan. Trump said that till now he has resolved eight wars… Regarding Azerbaijan, Putin told me that I cannot believe that you resolved that war because I was trying for 10 years and I literally resolved it in a single day.
US President Trump said that he does business. I said we will put you out of business. No more business. From both…then I imposed 200 percent tariff…the next day they called and stopped the 35 years of fighting. Before his bilateral meeting with Netanyahu, Trump asked, “Do I get credit for this?” No. I stopped eight wars. How about India and Pakistan… So I stopped eight of those wars and I will tell you about the rest some other time.
Trump had announced on social media on May 10 that India and Pakistan had agreed to a ceasefire after overnight talks brokered by Washington. Since then, Trump has claimed more than 70 times that he has ended the conflict between India and Pakistan. However, India has consistently denied any third party interference. India launched Operation Sindoor on May 7 in which it targeted terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. This action was taken in response to the Pahalgam attack on 22 April.
