India approves Dulhasti-2 hydropower project, Pakistan stunned

Islamabad. India had canceled the Indus Water Agreement with Pakistan during ‘Operation Vermillion’. Now India has given him another blow. Recently India has approved the Dulhasti-2 Hydropower Project on Chenab River. Now Pakistan is stunned by this decision of India. Now he is getting nervous after the Dulhasti-2 project. According to Pakistani media report, Pakistani MP Sherry Rehman has said that weaponizing water is neither wise nor acceptable in a region which is at the forefront of climate change and environmental pressure. This will further increase tension in the two-way relationship already suffering from hostility and lack of trust.
According to the report, Sherry Rehman wrote on He further wrote- IWT cannot be canceled unilaterally. As confirmed by a recent UN report, according to the IWT, Pakistan controls the waters of the Indus, Jhelum and Chenab rivers, while the Ravi, Beas and Sutlej rivers come under Indian control.
Let us tell you that earlier this month, the Expert Committee of the Environment Ministry of India approved the Dulhasti-2 hydropower project on Chenab River in Kishtwar, Jammu and Kashmir. Its cost will be Rs 3,200 crore. While approving the Dulhasti-2 hydroelectric project, the Indian government gave a message to Pakistan that the country will not compromise with its interests. India had earlier also canceled the Indus Water Agreement and said that water and blood cannot flow together. Chenab water is very important for agriculture in Pakistan. Farmers depend on the water of Chenab. In such a situation, if farmers do not get this water, it will have a direct impact on the crops and the situation in Pakistan makes it clear that difficulties for the neighboring country will increase.
