Trump administration canceled 1,00,000+ visas in second term

AmericaMore than one lakh visas have been canceled in America since Donald Trump assumed power again. The US State Department gave information about this on Monday. The State Department said that this is the biggest record of visa cancellation within a year. The special thing is that 8 thousand students are also included in these. On Monday, the State Department posted on social media, ‘We will continue to deport these criminals to keep America safe.’ It was further said, ‘The State Department has withdrawn more than 1 lakh visas, including 8 thousand student visas and 2500 specialized visas.’

Why did you cancel it?

Thousands of these visas have been canceled because of crimes, including assault and drink-driving. State Department spokesman Tommy Pigott said that the Trump administration’s biggest priority is the safety of American citizens and maintaining the country’s sovereignty. In terms of statistics, the number of visas canceled since the beginning of Trump’s second term on January 20, 2025 is two and a half times more than in the year 2024 under Joe Biden’s rule. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has especially emphasized on canceling the visas of students who took part in protests against Israel. For this he has taken the help of an old law. Under this, it is allowed to ban the entry of foreigners into America who go against American foreign policy.

Already strict on H-1B visa

The special thing is that from December 15, the US State Department has intensified the intensive screening of H-1B visas. These also include H-4 visa. The special thing is that even the social media posts of the applicants are being investigated. In such a situation, many interviews for H-1B visa have been postponed. The US State Department has already been saying that American visa is a facility, not a right.
